#1 Christian musicians to share faith in ‘Faith &
Friends’ concert series (News) The “Faith & Friends” concert series was recently inaugurated by Christian music artists Taya and Naomi
Raine on “Fox and Friends.” The show will feature some of the most prominent Christian musicians and will continue till Easter. Raine and Taya, known for singing “Oceans” and “Jireh,” first met on a plane and planned
#2 Hospitality and Love: Learning from a Marine and Beth Moore (Essay) This week, I ran across two stories that struck me. In some
ways, they could not be more divergent, but in other ways, they echoed. Both had to do with faith communities and how one, directly, responded to a threat and how another refused to see one. One subject sought to destroy a house of worship and those within it....
#3 Art is not
frivolous (Essay) This statement was displayed with an art exhibition of mine several years ago. It was a personal statement that the
venue asked me to include. It has a central idea that is very important to me: Art is Important. Growing up it never occurred to me to be an artist. My father is a prominent lawyer and I planned to follow in his footsteps. So, I entered college as a double major in economics and philosophy with the plan to attend law school. But, I became more interested in art....
It seems like everyone knows a narcissist these days. It isn’t a term I really thought about a decade ago. After I left a teaching position with a corrupt president, I started hearing people refer to him as a Narcissist. I also have a sister about
whom we used to say, “She just can’t see beyond herself.” It was always a benign issue… until it wasn’t....
Today I did something I thought I would never do. I officially changed my
party affiliation to Democrat by voting in my first Democratic primary. When I did, I was asked, “Julie, how can you be a Catholic and do such a thing?” It’s for the same reason 60 percent of the American Catholic Church, 76 percent of Hispanic Catholics/other Christians, and 95% percent of Black Catholics/other Christians.... |

A residence in North Carolina which was once the home of the iconic evangelist Billy Graham has been turned into a center for
pastoral restoration. The transformation took place through the efforts of a local businessman, Graham’s third daughter and actor Kirk Cameron. According to the description on the website, Billy’s Home Place, the sanctuary provides multiple opportunities to....
The comment below came across my Twitter and it struck me… but, not in a
good way. “The Holy Spirit does not use movies. He uses whatever Scripture is in those movies. The film, itself, is chaff.” Is that true? As an artist and art scholar, it struck me as “off” but I had to think about it for a while. Within evangelicalism, there is a high regard for scripture, that I share. But, I also fear that sometimes we hold scripture as an idol....
Frank E. Lockwood of the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette writes that Arkansas’ largest United Methodist congregation has come to an “Amicable Reconciliation and Separation Agreement” and will
split into three new, separate assemblies. The Central Church will continue to affiliate with the United Methodist denomination, while the South Fayetteville Genesis Church will become....
Within Christianity and evangelicalism more specifically, theology has always been an act of the word. This
article argues for an expanded definition of theology to include theology produced in a visual and not just a verbal language. Theology is more than “words about God.” It can rightly be thought of more broadly as “discourse about God” and as a result should be associated with visual as well as verbal inquiry....
An embroidered Deisis representing Jesus
Christ has been discovered by archeologists in a Russian medieval burial ground. The Deisis was uncovered during the Moscow-Kazan highway construction where a Christian cemetery and a medieval settlement have been found. Among the 46 graves that were unearthed, one of them contained the remains of a woman, aged between 16-25, who.... |
